Chelmsford Calling started life as a radio station in 2001, & between July 2001 & February 2007 operated 4 short term restricted service license broadcasts & a short lived community radio station. Our service covered the Chelmsford & surrounding area in Essex, UK.

An unusual feature of our broadcasts was that our programmes were aimed at the 'mature' audience, mainly the over 60's. Consequently the music played was largely from the time period from the 1930's to the 1950's, & we also aired classic vintage comedy programmes such as Hancock's Half Hour & The Goons. The station was operated entirely by volunteers, & our unique broadcasts resulted in a good response from our audience.

During our short broadcast life we aired some interesting specialist programmes & developed a friendly, appealing sound. It is therefore now a pleasure to be able to provide some original & some more recently recorded programmes as downloads through this website. We have also widened this source of material to include different genres of radio recordings & links to radio or music related videos.
